Stormbreak in School
We are committed to promoting positive mental health and well-being in school for all of our children and families.ย We value school being a happy and safe place to grow and learn. We also recognise that school is a safe place for families to reach out to.ย To promote positive mental health and well-being we implement Stormbreak.
Stormbreak is a registered charity that aims to embed mentally healthy movement for every child, every day. Ranvilles Junior works in partnership with Winchester University where initial investment was made. Stormbreak provides a practical whole school approach and supports childrens’ mental health through movement. When a storm rages, we teach children to find shelter and create light and positively calm through movement. Through Strormbreak we teach children to employ positive, proactive skills rather than act reactively. Through the programme of study, children are taught to recognise, respond and regulate.
Stormbreak focuses on mental health concepts:
- Resilience
- Relationships
- Self-Care
- Hope and Optimism
- Self-worth
We have linked the Strormbreak mental health concepts with our school values to ensure that the philosophy is also weaved and linked to our SMSC curriculum Big Debates.
