In 2013 the Government introduced PE and Sport Premium funding. Its primary purpose is to improve the quality and provision for PE in primary schools. The Government has stated that: ‘Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. This means that you should use the premium to: We value PE playing an important role in the development of our children. We appreciate that PE leads to improved fitness, health and well-being, concentration, positive attitude and academic achievement. We have linked PE to our creative curriculum and provide opportunities for children to have a clear purpose and appreciation of the significance of sport.
