Dear Year 6 Parents
I am writing to advise that the provision for Year 6 at Ranvilles Junior School will end on Thursday 16 July 2020. This decision has been made in partnership with the Chair of Governors. I feel that the team has done an excellent job facilitating opportunities to revise and consolidate core learning and supporting the Year 6 pupils to prepare for secondary school. I am also very proud of the Year 6 pupils who have behaved maturely, responsibly and with consideration for others.
The Department for Education has provided schools with the opportunity to welcome more children to school while still adhering to very specific guidelines. I now wish to welcome and provide an opportunity for Year 2 children to visit the school on these days and also to provide dedicated time for staff to lead virtual transition for all Ranvilles Junior School year groups.
The government has also advised that all schools must continue to plan for online education in case of potential localised or national lockdowns. I plan to dedicate both time to the Year 2 children, who have not been able to access school for transition, and to plan for future potential online education.
Guidance published yesterday identifies that it will be mandatory for all children to attend school full-time in September. Secondary guidance will be different to primary so please expect to hear from your child’s chosen secondary school with regards to September provision. I do expect there will be social-distancing expectations for secondary pupils in some conditions.
I will write to you again before the end of the academic year; I do hope you appreciate the need for the school to offer this opportunity to Year 2 children while still adhering to the current guidance for primary schools. Should you wish to speak with me regards Year 6, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
