Dear Parents / Guardians,
Arrival and Departure Time Slots
Pre Covid-19 the school gates opened for ten minutes in the morning between 08.45 and 08.55. During this time slot the children could either go straight to class or play until the whistle was blown. If your child arrived prior to 08.45am, they would not be allowed onto the school site until a member of staff was supervising at 08.45 – this was the case in all weather.
All schools have been given precise legislation from the Government to adhere to. This focuses principally on keeping children healthy by ensuing that they do not mix as a whole school. We have chosen to have class bubbles.
Timings for entry for year groups are:
- Year 3 – 08.50 – 09.00
- Year 4 – 08.50 – 09.00
- Year 5 – 08.40 – 08.50
- Year 6 – 08.40 – 08.50
*Children socially distance on entry to the building until in their class – (this is supervised)
Years 5 and 6 come into school first. This is because they are at opposite ends of the building and we can ensure they do not mix. Year 3 and 4 come in second. Once inside, all children have to wash their hands (this can be up to 65 in a year group) using separate sink areas. This can take time.
We appreciate that there are siblings in school and would like to emphasise:
- Year 3 and 4 siblings can arrive between 0850 and 09.00 and go straight in school
- Year 3 and 5 can arrive at the crossover point of 08.50 and go straight in school
- Year 3 and 6 can arrive at the crossover point of 08.50 and go straight in school
- Year 4 and 5 can arrive at the crossover point of 08.50 and go straight in school
- Year 4 and 6 can arrive at the crossover point of 08.50 and go straight in school
- Year 5 and 6 can arrive between 08.40 and 08.50 and go straight in school
- If you had a child in all year groups they could arrive at 08.50 and go straight in
Some children are arriving at school too early; this should not be happening as by default it creates a queuing system. Children arriving too early have been asked to queue in their class to prevent mixing. Just like pre Covid-19, the children arriving too early would not be allowed in school (regardless of the weather). This is owing to the fact that classrooms are not supervised at this time.
Please can I advise that when it is raining, you appreciate your child can go straight into school if you arrive at the correct time. If you opt to arrive too early, you have chosen for your child to queue. Please ensure your child has a waterproof coat to keep them dry.
Should the field be wet the 3L and 6S waiting area will move to the amphitheatre – this will be signposted.
We appreciate that at the end of the school day, it is inconvenient to wait ten minutes for siblings leaving at different times, especially in bad weather. With this in mind, from Monday 5 October, siblings from across the two time boundaries will meet in the hall and leave together at 3.20 (parents please wait in the 5/6 area).
Thank you for your continued support.
