The purpose of the structure STARS is to personalise holistic learning opportunities for every child. Teaching and learning encourages active participation and development of core skills in relation to 5 key areas. In order to implement the Every Child Matters Agenda, Excellence and Enjoyment & the Rights Respect and Responsibilities agenda practically and in the heart of the classroom, Ranvilles Junior has created a structure called STARS.
The principle idea is that children feel like stars and have the opportunity to achieve their full potential irrespective of social, economic and learning factors which may otherwise impact on them. The school has the capacity and ability to be flexible in its holistic approach to learning in order to accommodate the variables which challenge pupils. Children are encouraged to be the best they can be and to communicate their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a common language – STARS.
STARS develop spiritual, moral, social and cultural aspects of learning. The STARS are also linked to our school learning values. Each STAR focuses specifically on developing growth in relation to children as holistic learners. STAR targets are planned through our creative curriculum and identified in our Home/School Planners.
Every child has an Achievement and Learning STAR for English, maths and Science in order to develop core, developmental learning skills across the whole curriculum.
Our Values are implicit in everything we do and demonstrated in all aspects of Ranvilles school life. Our values are reinforced and discussed in class and in assemblies
