Physical Education

Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport at Ranvilles Junior School

At Ranvilles Junior School we know that PE plays an important role in the development of our children. We appreciate that physical activity leads to improved fitness, health and well-being, concentration, positive attitude and academic achievement. As such we endeavour to provide children with a wide range of opportunities including:

  • Physical Education lessons
  • Opportunities to be physically active during the school day
  • The chance to intrinsically develop competitively, achieve personal bests, compete against each other through inter-house games and externally across the county
  • Extra-curricular clubs and activities

Our Intent:

Through PE, physical activity and sport we aim to:

  1. Promote a life-long love and enjoyment of sport and physical activity
  2. Encourage healthy lifestyles now and for the future
  3. Facilitate and encourage daily physical activity
  4. Provide opportunities for children to become physically confident in order to support their health and fitness
  5. Support the children’s development against our EPIC school learning values and life skills of: Evaluation, Perseverance, Independence, Creativity, Collaboration, Challenge
  6. Develop personal qualities of leadership, team work, sportsmanship, intrinsic motivation, fairness, respect and resilience
  7. Provide opportunities for all children to compete in competitive sport as well as promoting our elite athletes
  8. Ensure all children are water confident and understand basic self-rescue. We aim for as many children as possible to achieve a minimum of 25m.
